Rail Network Upgrades and Impacts

KiwiRail, Greater Wellington Regional Council (Metlink) and Transdev Wellington are working together to upgrade the rail network across the Wellington Region, including the Wairarapa Line.

Next week KiwiRail and Metlink will be running a series of drop-in sessions to talk to you about the upcoming Wairarapa Line programme of work.

South Wairarapa Drop-in Sessions:

Woodside Station, Greytown: 9am to 11.30am, Tuesday 11 May. Featherston Station: 1.15pm to 7.20pm, Tuesday 11 May.

For more on the drop-in sessions visit www.metlink.org.nz/communityengagement

These sessions give an opportunity to speak with the teams involved and get more details on how it may impact your journey with Metlink.

If you’re a weekday daytime off-peak Wairarapa train customer, you’ll notice some changes to your service from early June 2021. Peak services will continue to run as normal.

Keep an eye on the ‘service changes’ page on the Metlink website to know before you go: https://www.metlink.org.nz/news-and-updates/service-changes/buses-replacing-trains/wairarapa-line/#upgrades

This is necessary work. Please be patient. We will keep you informed about the improvements to your rail network as we receive information. We appreciate this will cause new disruption to some commuters, and we apologise for the inconvenience. Our aim is to get the work done efficiently and in a shorter timeframe.
