Connecting Communities Wairarapa
Connecting Communities Wairarapa is a community organisation that operates a range of social services focused on increasing the well-being of our people and our community. Their collaborative approach means they work together with communities to achieve common goals that build strong resilient communities.
The Connecting Communitis Wairarapa’s new website has launched: https://www.ccw.org.nz/. Three of our services that may be of benefit are:
- Building Financial Capabilities. This is client-led and strengths-based financial mentoring and support, Wairarapa-wide. We educate and support clients with debt, we ensure clients are receiving the benefits they are entitled to, and we work with the client to create an achievable budget. We have clinics in Carterton, Work & Income, Masterton Library and Te Awhina. Note that MSD have removed the requirement that eligible clients must be experiencing financial hardship: this service is now available to EVERYONE and it is FREE. (We have some employees of social service agency employees who have signed up, so they can give a lived-experience recommendation to their clients – we’d love to engage with more of you!)
- MoneyMates. These workshops are based around the concept of sharing and learning together as a group. Our facilitators educate and guide people to identify their financial goals and build their skills to create a manageable budgeting plan. Participants learn from each other, gain control over their financial lives and build resilience. If you have a group of clients keen to participate in a MoneyMates programme, we can tailor a course to your needs. We can host the course at our office, or we can come to you – where ever your clients will feel most comfortable. Just get in touch and we can discuss logistics! This service is now available to EVERYONE and it is FREE.
- Strengthening Families. This is a whānau-led, structured, collaborative process. At the heart of the process is a whānau with strengths, but one that is also having trouble coping with life’s challenges and requires help from multiple agencies. We can support them through a challenging time when they may be feeling overwhelmed with life’s circumstances.
