Independent
My principal place of residence is in the Featherston General Ward area.
Kia ora – Greetings
I’m passionate about Pae Tū Mōkai/Featherston flourishing as an amazing place to live. We’re in a key position to develop our identity, building on our military and rail heritage, the success of Booktown Karukatea Festival and more. In sharing local concerns about infrastructure, I believe we need to understand both the challenges we face, and the investment required to ensure a thriving community with access to council-funded amenities. This requires positive communication, community engagement and a strategic approach. I offer an approachable and authentic voice.
A marriage and funeral celebrant with a nursing background, I’m empathetic and pragmatic. In August, I complete 3-years as National President of the Celebrants Association of New Zealand. My leadership experience means I will represent you fairly, communicating with you clearly about local issues. Let’s build a safe, inclusive and sustainable community with a resilient infrastructure together.
Ngā mihi, Rachel

My principal place of residence is in the Featherston General Ward area.
I’m a resident of 17 years and am raising my two children here: I am here for the long-haul, boots n all.
My experience of democracy and service is 20 years as a public servant, which included several in the Beehive. More recently I reported for the Wairarapa Times Age and Stuff news. I am one paper away from gaining my Law degree, which adds another string to my bow.
I have been on the Featherston Community Centre and Featherston Rugby Club Boards.
Lack of pedestrian safety measures, flooding, poor quality and under-developed council housing, RMA consent issues, and pensioner stress over rate rises are some of the matters I would have a close eye on if elected to represent Featherston.
I’m an advocate for better engagement with and from the Government, greater investment in the Featherston shopping precinct and top-notch maintenance of our sports grounds and facilities.

Thank you for the opportunity to represent the electorate of Featherston in the SWDC council.
I have lived in the South Wairarapa for 19 years, in Featherston for 7 and operated a small business here for 4.
I have no particular barrow to push other than the betterment of our community. I regard the position as being the ears and your voice.
Kia Kaha, Martin.

My principal place of residence is not in the Featherston General Ward area.
Serving my community is a privilege I have been fortunate to have had since 2013. Over this period, I have gained experience in Local Government matters.
My commitment to you is to continue to serve my community with honesty, integrity, and plain old hard work.
To achieve the best outcome for our Community, we need a steady hand that can navigate the myriads of legislative requirements imposed upon Council. These are skills I have acquired over my years as a Featherston Ward Councillor.
My commitment to Featherston spans over many years. My involvement in many groups and organisation in and around Featherston has given me the opportunity to connect, listen and hear the voice of our community.
To help me to realise community goals and aspirations, I need your vote.

Calm Quiet Thoughtful
My principal place of residence is in the Featherston General Ward area. I am also standing for Featherston Community Board.
Featherston has had a rough time, coping with huge issues around infrastructure and rates. It’s difficult for many, the Council cops a fair bit of flak, so it’s critical that we can put all that behind, and work for the common good.
I’m standing because of the quality of the Mayoral candidates. I know the job is hard, but I’d love to be on a team that can deliver for the benefit of all 3 towns and the region.
I’m a good listener, focused in decision-making, open-minded, and get on with people of all sorts and views, living in Featherston 18 years, working in the health field, including at Parliament.
No stranger to local government, I’ve worked with Wellington City Mayor’s Office off and on over 20 years.
I want to project a strong Featherston, as the cornerstone of a strong, vibrant South Wairarapa.
Kia kaha, kia haere tonu!

Kia ora,
My name is Anna Hynds.
I am passionate about Pae Tū Mōkai/Featherston and our community.
I am married to Derek McLuskie and we both enjoy volunteering, particularly for Featherston Booktown’s Karukatea Festival and other community events. Derek and I have lived in Featherston for twenty years but realise this might not make us locals (yet!).
My background is in community research, development and organisational improvement. I have held senior academic positions at Auckland and Victoria University and conducted work for government agencies, NGOs and businesses.
If elected, my priority would be working productively with others to get the best results for Featherston and South Wairarapa.
My preferred candidates for FCB are myself, Tui Rutherford, Warren Maxwell and Tanja Schubert-Mcarthur. If you consider voting for one of us, please consider voting for the others in this group.

Ko Warren Maxwell tōku ingoa. My whānau and I moved to Featherston in 2006 and feel grateful every day to have settled in this amazing community. I teach at Kuranui College and my new favourite hobby is heckling the T.V. at the Featherston bowling club on Saturday nights.
I’ve had the privilege of spending the past triennium as an elected Featherston Community Board member and would very much like the opportunity to continue representing Featherston at local body level.
As we all know, these are very challenging times. If elected, my main objectives would be to build respectful, transparent working relationships with ratepayers, council, Iwi and stakeholders to create and enable positive outcomes.
I am super proud to live here and to call Featherston home.
My preferred candidates for Featherston Community Board (including myself) are Tanja Schubert-McArthur, Anne Hynds and Tui Rutherford. Please consider these incredibly passionate candidates for FCB.

My background is supporting communities, businesses, and economic development – as a business owner, and in roles helping build business management capability.

My principal place of residence is in the Featherston Community Board area.
Kia ora, I’m Tanja (sounds like Tanya). Since my husband Ryan and our two children moved to Featherston four years ago. I’ve immediately fallen in love with this tight-knit and caring community. I am on the Paetūmōkai Matariki Committee, helped set-up the community garden, volunteer for Booktown and generally like to get involved with community events. Originally from a small village in Germany, I’ve recently become a NZ citizen and would like to give back to the community by making Featherston even more fabulous.
I bring my expertise in the culture and museum sector, knowledge of New Zealand history and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Christian values and enthusiasm to this role.
My preferred candidates for FCB are myself, Warren Maxwell, Tui Rutherford and Anne Hynds. Please vote for us all.
Mā tau rourou, mā taku rourou ka ora te iwi. With your contribution and my contribution, the people will thrive.

My principal place of residence is in the Featherston Community Board area. I am also standing for Featherston General Ward.
I’ve lived here for 18 years, have many connections with the community and want to deepen my contribution.
I acknowledge the tremendous work done by the recent Board as a voice for Featherston at Council level, and want that to become stronger.
The Council has had a rough few years and the Board has a critical role in repairing trust, and bringing together the various initiatives currently underway to make Featherston an effective regional hub for the development of businesses and amenities, to support a growing population.
My principal connections have been with the Community Centre Board, the Heritage/Fell Museum Precinct, Biz Engine, and Fareham House. I’m an RSA member through my continuing service with the Trentham base band. Also help with several planting projects, at the Lake and on Moore’s Rd. Dorset Square and One Tree Hill are my happy places.
