MEDIA RELEASE: Craggy Range ‘Packs the Bus’ for Wairarapa children in need

6 December 2019

Craggy Range packed a big surprise at the Martinborough Square Pack the Bus event today. The local vineyard gifted 800-plus Santa sacks to Wairarapa’s Pack the Bus initiative, which distributes gifts to children in need this Christmas.

There were so many Santa sacks, it took six tractors with trailers to deliver them. Mayor for South Wairarapa, Alex Beijen, and for Masterton, Lyn Patterson, and Deputy Mayor for Carterton, Rebecca Vergunst, were at the Square to witness the spectacular scene.

Speaking on behalf of all three Wairarapa mayors, Alex Beijen says a big thank you to Craggy Range.

“It’s wonderful for an organisation such as Craggy Range to be so generous to the families and children in the Wairarapa region. On behalf of the three mayors, thank you for your generosity and for putting smiles on the faces of our tamariki.

“Martinborough is an internationally renowned wine-growing region, and we’re delighted to have Craggy Range as part of our special community here.

“All donations to Pack the Bus, both large and small, are so gratefully received,” says Mr Beijen.

Each Santa sack from Craggy Range contains a back pack, books, sporting ball and stationary to prepare kids for the new school year. The sacks will be distributed along with all the other donated gifts, by the region’s food banks.

Wairarapa joins Hawkes Bay in being a recipient region for Craggy Range’s ‘A Children’s Christmas’ Foundation, which is focussed on making a difference to the lives of children experiencing hardship across the communities in which they operate.

Pack the Bus Wairarapa is an initiative between Tranzit Coachlines, Masterton District Council, Carterton District Council, South Wairarapa District Council, Mitre 10 MEGA, Property Brokers Wairarapa and proudly supported by Wairarapa’s MoreFM.

The Property Broker’s Park up in Martinborough was kindly supported P&K Martinborough Mitre 10 and the Martinborough Business Association.

If you would like to donate to Pack the Bus, see our Facebook page for further park up events, including Featherston on Monday and Greytown on Tuesday next week.
