Greytown’s mid year Festival of Christmas turns four this year and has proven to be so popular that it requires some road closures, which are detailed here.
The proposed road closure dates have been applied for on Friday 27 June and Saturday 26 July for this year’s Greytown Festival of Christmas.
Road closure dates and times on Friday 27 June and Saturday 26 July 2025
- Main Street (State Highway 2 – SH2) between Jellicoe Street and Hastwell Street from 2pm to 9pm.
- McMaster Street from Main Street to East Street from 1pm to 9pm.
Detour routes
- Southbound on Main Street (SH2), left onto Jellicoe Street, right onto East Street and right onto Church Street to rejoin SH2.
- Northbound on Main Street (SH2, left onto Hastwell Street, right onto West Street, right onto Kuratawhiti Street to rejoin SH2.
Postponement dates
The postponement dates that have been set aside are Saturday 28 June and Sunday 27 July.
Tractor parade on Saturday 19 July 2025 from 5pm to 5.45pm - This year there will be a tractor parade with approximately 30 vehicles.
- Two circuits are planned for Main Street in Greytown.
- All vehicles in this parade will be registered, warranted and road worthy. No tracks. Wheels only.
- The roads will not be closed as it will be a rolling block.
- There will be a pilot vehicle to lead the rolling block and the tail vehicle.
- Volunteer marshals will be provided and briefed to direct vehicles to parking spaces, a departure order for the parade and safe entry to school grounds and parking at the end of the parade.
- The route for the parade and diversion of traffic as part of the rolling block are identified on the attached map.
