As of today, the public can register to attend one of three public meetings on the 2021/22 rates planned by South Wairarapa District Council.
The public meetings will follow a Council meeting in late October which will consider our financial situation and the options we have to review the rates. The Council will be able to hear the community’s views about those discussions, and any proposed way ahead agreed, at the public meetings.
There will be 3 public meetings, one in each of the South Wairarapa towns.
Town: | Greytown | Featherston | Martinborough |
When: | 2 November 2021 | 8 November 2021 | 11 November 2021 |
Time: | 6.00pm | 6.00pm | 6.00pm |
Venue: | Greytown Town Centre | ANZAC Hall | Martinborough Town Hall |
YouTube viewing | Not available | Not available | Available |
All those wishing to attend in person must register, with each person required to register individually. This is to manage the numbers that can be safely accommodated at each venue under Covid-19 alert level 2 restrictions.
Registrations will close at midday, two days before each meeting date. Should an event be over-subscribed then all registrations will enter a ballot – registered names will be randomly sorted, with the first 60 (Greytown) or 100 (Featherston and Martinborough) selected to attend. Only these ratepayers will be contacted with details of their confirmation.
Those registered and confirmed, who attend the meetings in person, must wear a face mask and be seated a metre apart. The Martinborough meeting will be live streamed, enabling viewers to see it via YouTube from their homes.
In the event of an escalation in Covid-19 alert levels or any other issue, the meetings will be cancelled, and one online meeting live-streamed.
