Many South Wairarapa residents will be relieved to hear that Featherston’s Ōtauira Reserve roadway is being resurfaced.

Resurfacing work is planned to begin later this week. During the works, the site will be closed to the public.
The exact completion date is still uncertain, as it will depend on the condition of the underlying soils and the weather, but is expected to be around mid-December.
The resurfacing is necessary due to the poor condition of the road, which has developed significant potholes caused by unstable terrain, as this area was previously used as a landfill site.
For those unfamiliar with Ōtauira Reserve, it is accessed off the SH2 Remutaka Hill Road just before you get into Featherston.
We thank you for your understanding while the reserve is closed and this important mahi is completed.
