An error in the candidate profile booklet for the South Wairarapa District Council election has been identified, external Electoral Officer Warwick Lampp said today.

The candidate names of the two Māori ward candidates are correctly included on the voting papers, however their candidate profiles are missing from the booklet.  The two Māori ward candidates are:

Election for ONE (1) Councillor

Surname	First Name
KARAUNA	Whitu
RUTENE	Andrea

“Unfortunately, the error occurred in the proofing and printing process.” Mr Lampp said.  “The buck stops with me, I take complete responsibility for the error and apologise to the candidates and Māori Ward voters for any confusion.”

Whilst the 460 Māori ward electors are being sent an individual letter this week with the candidate profiles included we feel it is important to provide the candidate information to all voters in the South Wairarapa District Council area.

Voting opened on Tuesday, 9 September and voter packs are in the process of being delivered to letterboxes. Voting closes at 12 noon on Saturday 11 October 2025 with the progress results being announced later that day.
