South Wairarapa District Council has withdrawn the Notice of Requirement for the designation of Martinborough’s Pain Farm for wastewater land-based disposal under the proposed Wairarapa Combined District Plan.

Negotiations are underway for the purchase of an alternative site for Martinborough’s wastewater disposal. Plans regarding the upgrade of the treatment plant, future disposal options and a potential Notice of Requirement for a future designation are yet to be completed.

The current resource consent requires that a land-based wastewater disposal system be operational by 2030.

Once the purchase is finalised, further details will be released.
