South Wairarapa District Council approves new committees  

South Wairarapa District Council has new committee structures in place for the 2025-28 triennium following  the Council meeting on Thursday 20 November. 

The new committees and their appointees are:  

Infrastructure Committee 

This Committee provides governance oversight and monitoring of the Council’s operational functions and capital programmes for roading, three waters, waste management and minimisation, public amenities and Council properties.

Risk & Assurance Committee 

This Committee ensures the overall strategic financial management and performance of the Council and provides independent assurance and assistance on the Council’s risk, controls, compliance framework and its external accountability responsibilities.

Māori Partnership Committee (the renamed Māori Standing Committee) 

The Māori Partnership Committee reflects the enduring partnership between the Council and mana whenua, grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • One representative from each three South Wairarapa marae (Kohunui Marae, Papawai Marae and Hau Ariki Marae). 
  • One representative from Pae Tū Mōkai o Tauira

  • One representative from Rangitāne o Wairarapa 
  • Mayor Fran Wilde (ex officio) 
  • Up to one youth representative in an advocacy role 

 
Rural & Coastal Advisory Group 

The establishment of this group has been approved with Councillors Aidan Ellims and Collier Isaacs and an Independent Chair yet to be announced. An expression of interest process will be completed for community nominations to this group.   

 
District Licensing Committee 

  • Alistair Plimmer, Commissioner, appointed to March 2026
