On 22 August 2023, South Wairarapa District Council approved a resource consent for the removal of a notable tree within the road reserve outside 54a Wood Street, Greytown. The tree was assessed by Paper Street Tree Company as being in bad health and removal recommended.

The Council’s resource consent and Arboricultural Tree Inspection Report, which provides further assessment details, are publicly available.

It is expected the tree felling and removal will be completed within the next month.
