NZTA Waka Kotahi have advised that due to bridge concrete and bearing repair works, this section of road will be closed in both directions.

WHERE:  SH53 at Tauwharenīkau Bridge.

DATE: Tuesday 23 January to Wednesday 7 February, weather permitting.

TIME: During the week between 7am and 5pm.

The road will be open during the weekends and on Waitangi Day 6 February.

Detours
Plan your journey accordingly allowing extra time for travel.
Northbound traffic, turn left on to Camp Road, right on to SH2, right on to No. 1 Line and left back on to SH53. Reverse for Southbound. Please note that Camp Road is not suitable for heavy vehicles and must detour via SH2 and No. 1 Line.
