At the Featherston Community Board meeting on Tuesday 19 May 2020, the Board resolved to fill by appointment an extraordinary vacancy in the office of an elected member of the Board, in accordance with section 117A of the Local Electoral Act 2001.

The Board resolved: That the extraordinary vacancy will be filled by the appointment of Tohoa (Jayson) Tahinurua, and the process and criteria by which Tohoa (Jayson) Tahinurua was selected for appointment was by agreeing on the following criteria for selection a) consideration of experience b) sector of the community that is not represented c) balancing Board composition and d) people who have expressed an interest in the past to stand for the Board, each with an equal weighting of 25 percent. A Featherston Community Board meeting will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, 16 June 2020 in the Kiwi Hall, 62 Bell St, Featherston to confirm the appointment.
