SH53 SOUTH FEATHERSTON (Tauherenikau River Bridge) will be closed between the intersections of Camp Rd and No.1 Line due to bridge repair and upgrade works in both directions. on the following dates
When: bridge will be closed in both directions between 7am and 5pm on the following dates:
• Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 April
• Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 April
• Monday 29 April until early June (Monday to Friday, no weekend closures)
Outside of these hours, the bridge will be open to light vehicles ONLY and subject to a 30km/h temporary speed limit.
Light vehicles please detour via Camp Rd and No.1 Line. Please note that Camp Road is not suitable for heavy vehicles and you must detour via SH2 and No.1 Line back onto SH53.
Heavy vehicles will not be able to travel over the bridge from Monday 29 April until early June 24/7.
These works are dependent on various factors and could be postponed at short notice. In the event of postponement an update will be provided in the comment section below.

SH2 FEATHERSTON between Wakefield Street/Bethune Street and Birdwood Street/Lyon Street, Featherston. Upgrading the stormwater system involves removing the old pipe and replacing it with a new pipe. This will help improve stormwater drainage in the area.
When: Sunday 14 April to Friday 19 April, day and night works.
- Day works Mon 15 – Fri 19 April, between 9am and 5.30pm
During this time, we will need to close the shoulder meaning carparks directly outside Fresh Choice will be closed during these times.
- Night works Sun 14 – Thu 18 April, between 9pm and 5.30am
During this time, we will need to close part of the road and detour traffic, as below.
Road closure SH2 Fitzherbert Street (between Wakefield and Lyon Street) will be closed at night for the duration of the works. Vehicles will need to follow the sign-posted detours.
Between 9pm and 5.30am, vehicles won’t be able to access Daniell Street from Fitzherbert Street as the intersections will be closed on either side of the road. Instead, they can access via Ravens Street or Fox Street.

SH2 REMUTAKA HILL ROAD will be closed for scheduled maintenance.
When: Sunday 14 April – Thursday 18 April between 9pm and 4am.
Access to the route will be strictly limited. However, escorted crossings can be reserved for people who have booked in advance.
