Proposed Wairarapa Combined District Plan

The Proposed Wairarapa Combined District Plan (‘the Proposed District Plan’) has been formally notified. Written submissions are being sought over a nine-week period running from 11 October 2023 to 19 December 2023.

This is an important opportunity for you to have your say on the main document that sets the framework for managing land use, subdivision, and development in the Wairarapa. It must provide for growth balanced against a community’s desired environmental outcomes. It sets out what activities people can do and what activities need resource consent.

Draft Future Development Strategy Consultation 

Planning for an additional 200,000 people and 99,000 more homes for the Wairarapa, Wellington and Horowhenua regions are among the objectives outlined in the Draft Future Development Strategy (FDS), which is open for consultation.

Endorsed by the Wellington Regional Leadership Committee (WRLC), a partnership of local and central government and mana whenua, the FDS outlines the vision for housing and business development in the region, emphasising collaboration to meet the area’s needs over the next 30 years. It prioritises areas for this development along our strategic public transport networks.
