Wellington Water is replacing and diverting a sewer pipe at Greytown’s Memorial Park Water Treatment Plant. This work is vital to ensure the safety of our drinking water.
The pipe is located close to the bore and, while there has been no leak from the sewer into the bore, Wellington Water and South Wairarapa District Council want to ensure this will not happen.
Work will commence on Thursday 14 October and will take about five to six weeks.
Contractors will operate between the hours of 7.30am and 6.00pm Monday to Fridays. There will be no work operations during the weekends.
The carpark will be open, but parking will be limited.
Kuratawhiti St will be closed for 1 to 2 days between Monday 18 and Wednesday 20 October. Residents will still have access and there will be traffic management on site.
This is important work that is part of larger plans to improve our drinking water resilience in South Wairarapa.
