Illegal dumping has been discovered again in South Wairarapa, this time on the riverbed at the end of South Featherston on Donalds Road. The rubbish left here may have now begun to spread downstream, polluting a much-loved and scenic part of our environment.
The council is working closely with Greater Wellington Regional Council to investigate, identify and may pursue prosecution those responsible for the illegal dumping.
“It’s really worrying to see so much rubbish being dumped around our beautiful district when we have the great Featherston Community Centre, lots of op shops and also food banks where people can legally drop off things they no longer need or want,” says a council spokesperson. “This is a free solution that can support those who are in need rather than destroying our environment.”
