South Wairarapa District Councils Rating Policies Review consultation has now closed.

The proposal asked for feedback on a group of our financial policies as required under Section 102 of the Local Government Act 2022 (LGA).

Council received a fantastic response, with 205 submissions being made in the month long consultation period.

As Chair as of the Finance Committee, Councillor Colin Olds said, “We’re really excited about the number of people who have taken time to make a submission, and Council are looking forward to reading the submissions from the community to understand their preferred options and thoughts on the review as we work towards making a decision.”

Council will now go through the process of collating the submissions, before the submission hearings next Thursday 26 October, and contacting those who have asked to speak to their submissions.

Following submission hearings, Council will meet on the Thursday 9 November and Thursday 16 November for deliberations and take into consideration any suggested changes resulting from public feedback.  

Council anticipates taking a decision on the policies at their final meeting of the year on 22 November.
