Enhanced Annual Plan consultation closes with 131 submissions

South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) closed its month long 2024-25 Enhanced Annual Plan consultation on Sunday 5 May with a flurry of submissions over the weekend, the final number reaching 131 formal submissions.

Deputy Mayor Melissa Sadler-Futter thanks everyone who made a submission or took part in the various engagement opportunities between 5 April and 5 May, “your feedback will form a valuable part of our decision-making process.”

As part of the consultation, SWDC outlined the challenges faced by Council and asked the South Wairarapa community to have their say on three specific decisions Council need to make:

  • How much the council spends on operating and maintaining water services.
  • How council charges for water use
  • How council pays for replacement of assets.

In addition to receiving formal submissions, community engagement sessions were offered throughout the consultation period where feedback and conversation on the three decisions was able to be heard.

“It was rewarding to get out into our communities and meet with them to listen to their valuable insights. These essential perspectives will help us inform our strategies and help shape the outcomes for the year ahead” shared Councillor Martin Bosley.

This feedback, along with the submissions will be reported back to Council at the Enhanced Annual Plan Hearings on Wednesday 15 May, with decisions being made at Deliberations on Wednesday 22 May.

Key dates:
15 May – Hearings
22 May – Deliberations
26 June – Adoption of 2024-25 Enhanced Annual Plan
