Ongoing streetlight outages in Featherston are currently being worked on, following an electrical fault detected over the weekend.
Power crews attended in the weekend after reports of a power outage and identified the cause as a high voltage cable having come into contact with low voltage lines in the vicinity of Bethune Street.
The fault damaged the street lighting circuit, resulting in multiple outages around Featherston.
Fuses have now been replaced but streetlights remain out, due to high voltage causing significant damage to light fittings which now need to be repaired manually.
Repairs to the lights along the State Highway will be made as soon as possible by the power provider, followed by the other streets impacted by the outage.
We appreciate the community’s patience while repair work is being done.
