7 August 2022
This is the last week for candidates to be nominated in our district’s Local Body Elections on October 8.
We are looking for people who passionately care about their district and want to serve it by standing for the South Wairarapa District Council or one of its three Community Boards in Martinborough, Featherston and Greytown.
Nominations need to be in by 12 noon sharp on Friday 12 August so if you are considering this move, please make sure your documentation is all in order by this time.
Go to our election page for nomination forms and more information.
Friday 5pm is also the close off time for the local body electoral roll. Our elections are First Past the Post and held by post.
If you were registered to vote in the last Parliamentary election, you should be on the residential roll for the local body elections also (whether you pay rates or not) . But if you’ve moved and haven’t updated your address, or are eligible for the first time, you may miss out on the voting papers when they are sent out in September.
To check or update your details, or enrol, please go to www.vote.nz
If you live somewhere else but pay rates in our district, you are also entitled to vote by enrolling on the non-resident ratepayers roll.
It is still possible to vote after August 12, as long as you are enrolled and have requested special voting papers from the Council or the Electoral Officer. Votes must be received by noon, 8 October.
