Temporary closure for signalling work
KiwiRail have advised Council that it will be carrying out work at Featherston’s Brandon Street level crossing to ensure the existing safety equipment – warning bells and lights, remain operational once the new signaling system goes live in January 2027. This will involve digging a trench and installing ducting under the road to carry cable and power to the new system.
Brandon Street will be temporarily closed at the level crossing for 3 weeks from 21 August to 11 September while their track team and construction company JFC carry out the work.
