Tauherenikau Suspension Bridge Update

The opening of the Tauherenikau suspension bridge between Featherston and Greytown has been delayed.
The bridge, which forms part of the Five Towns Trail Network, was originally set to open in early September but it is awaiting some parts to stabilise it in strong winds.

In the meantime, the Greytown Trails Trust, which is project managing the bridge, asks that the public do not use it in high winds. Temporary signs are being added to stay off the bridge in windy conditions. We will have more information on the opening ceremony as the work progresses.

While the construction wraps up, volunteers are being invited to help with the landscaping. More than 2000 trees and shrubs were placed at the Northern entrance to the bridge recently, and another planting day will start at the end of Underhill Road Featherston at 10.30am on Saturday September 10.
