Wellington Water crews will be working on water pipes in Martinborough on the properties listed below from approximately 9am on Wednesday 26 March.
To allow the Wellington Water team to safely complete the work, the water will be temporarily turned off to the following properties in Martinborough.
Properties affected by temporary shut off:
4 – 10 Sackville Street (even numbered properties)
1 – 7 Sackville Street (odd numbered properties)
43 Jellicoe Street
50 – 86 Venice Street (even numbered properties)
55 – 89 Venice Street (odd numbered properties)
It is anticipated that the water supply will be interrupted for approximately three hours.
The water be turned back on as soon as possible once the work is done.
Preparing for temporary water shut off
Wellington Water recommends filling up some containers with water, in advance. It is also advised not to take water from the hot water cylinder while the water is turned off, just in case the water levels get too low, which can cause damage to the cylinder.
Advice when water is turned back on
Once the water is turned back on, it is a good idea to slowly turn the tap on and let it run for a minute to clear any air bubbles. These air bubbles can cause the water to appear cloudy, but the water remains safe to drink and will not affect the taste. This colour should clear quickly.
