Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy

To make our communities safer, legislation requires councils across New Zealand to have a Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy. This policy must include specific information outlined under the Building Act (2004).

Our Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy has been reviewed. Consultation on this policy closed at 4.00pm on 10 July 2023. We received 16 submissions, which were tabled with elected members for their consideration during the hearings and deliberations stage on 16 August 2023.

The hearings committee adopted the Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy on 16 August 2023.
