Featherston Community Board was humbled to receive 25 applications for grants totalling over $60,000 in its latest funding round this month.
“The impressive response of high quality and high volume of applications made funding decisions challenging, with many worthy projects exceeding available funds at this stage,” says Board Chair Tanja Schubert-McArthur, who congratulated successful recipients.
The biggest recipient in this round was the Featherston Foodbank, which gained $5,000 towards operational costs for families and individuals in hardship.
“We are also pleased to help the Mini Fell train get back on track with a new scissor lift so it can be enjoyed by our tamariki,” says Tanja Schubert-McArthur.
Council Grants Advisor Lina McManus says stand-out applications came from a wide range of organisations, including Hokai Tahi (perinatal support services), which gained $2,000 towards operational costs for rent, which had risen significantly, placing a large burden on the organisation.
“Featherston Mural Festival was also given funds for a high profile community space next to the supermarket, which will gain art for all to enjoy,” says McManus.
Total funds available in this round were $20,150, of which $20,095 was distributed to 11 successful applicants.
