The Hurupi Stream Bridge is looking stronger than ever, with repairs and reinforcement work completed recently following damage during the February weather events.
During February’s storm, floodwaters damaged the bridge approach and left Cape Palliser, Ngāwi and surrounding communities temporarily cut off from the rest of the district. Emergency works restored access as quickly as possible, ensuring residents, businesses and visitors could reconnect with essential services and supplies.
This latest phase of work used the HEX-LOC® system (formerly known as EcoReef) to strengthen and protect the bridge approach from erosion and future flood damage, improving the long-term resilience of the route and helping safeguard access to our coastal communities.
A big thank you to Fulton Hogan for delivering the work, and to the community for their patience and understanding while repairs were completed.
