Harry Wilson has accepted the role of Chief Executive at the South Wairarapa District Council.

Harry has also been Chief Executive for Waikato Regional Council for five years.

SWDC is very pleased to welcome Harry as Chief Executive.

Mayor Viv Napier says, “Harry brings experience working in local government and with rural communities. He has demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking and implementation in his previous roles and has a desire to put something back into the community. He is passionate about local government.”

Harry will be focusing on translating the aspirations of the SWDC Long Term Plan into implementation. Harry has led change through building and retaining relationships with staff, customers, Māori and other stakeholders.

“I am really excited by the opportunity and joining a great team and a great community set in one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand to live. I look forward to starting in this role and help bringing the districts vision to life.” says Harry.

Harry will be having a well-deserved break and be confirming his start date with Council shortly.
