New self-service kiosks complement our libraries

Good news for library goers – South Wairarapa Libraries have installed new self-service kiosks making it quick and easy for library-goers to take out books themselves, search the library catalogue, browse new items, reserve books and view library updates.

There is now one kiosk at each of our three libraries in Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough. The kiosks are a quick and convenient option for borrowing and browsing. Self-service kiosks also enable staff to help customers with more complex enquiries or deliver services such as Wā Kōrero (story-time) or holiday programmes, while providing a choice for other customers while they would otherwise wait.

Self-service kiosks are a common feature in modern libraries across New Zealand and overseas. New customers frequently ask where ours are. The kiosks complement existing library services and make borrowing faster and more convenient for the community. You can still see our library staff in person for all of the usual library and Council services.

Keep an eye on South Wairarapa Libraries’ website for books, digital services, recycling services and our wide range of offerings from e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines to book club sets, te reo ketes and more.

These great new self-service kiosks are an exciting addition for library customers and will be available soon following performance testing.
