MetService has issued an Orange heavy rain warning for the Tararua Ranges.

It is forecasting 120 to 180 mm of rain from 12pm Thursday to 3pm Friday.

Rivers in the Wairarapa have capacity but our region remains saturated from recent rain events so it is expected the rivers will react quickly and surface flooding is expected.

Please take care on the roads and near rivers.
