Recycling Week 11 – 17 November 2013

Recycling Week is a national initiative to encourage people to think about how they recycle and ways they can improve their recycling habits.  This year recycling week is 11 to 17 November 2013.  This is the second year running and it involves people at home, at work, at play or at school.  We’re hoping to get everyone in the district supporting this initiative, so get involved in reducing your waste to landfil.  Recycle.co.nz has come up with some fun daily suggestions on how you can improve on your recycling, for example:

Monday 11 November – Make A Noise Monday: remind your school or co-workers to get involved with Recycling Week.

Tuesday 12 November – Choose Nude Tuesday: go to work or school with a waste-free lunch.

Make sure your Recycling Week includes the 6R’s:

  • Refuse what you don’t need
  • Reduce what you do need
  • Reuse anything that you can
  • Recycle what you cannot refuse, reduce, or reuse
  • Rehome what you no longer need or want
