South Wairarapa candidate withdraws from council elections

29 August 2019

Lee Carter has withdrawn from the upcoming council elections due to health reasons. Lee is an existing Featherston Ward councillor and had again submitted nominations for that position and for the South Wairarapa District mayoralty.

South Wairarapa Electoral Officer Warwick Lampp says, “Lee’s withdrawal is based on medical advice.  After discussions with Lee, I’m asking the media and public to respect her privacy at this time as she has indicated she won’t be making any public comment.

“As is required by the legislation, I have removed Lee’s details from the voting papers and candidate profile booklet for the 2019 elections. This is of course disappointing news for Lee, and we wish her a speedy recovery.”

Voting opens on 20 September, and closes at midday on 12 October. Any queries relating to this matter and the election process are to be directed to Warwick Lampp as below.
