South Wairarapa District Council has scheduled maintenance to take place on Tuesday 11 August from 9am to 1pm on West Street in Greytown and the properties that will be impacted are shown on the map below.
This maintenance means that Citycare Water needs to temporarily turn off the water supply to properties on West Street on Humphries Street intersection south, Pierce Street and Balfour Street in Greytown.
This maintenance is for the connection of the realigned watermain on State Highway 2, Greytown south. The impacted area is shown on the map below and the letter drop to affected properties took place on 7 August.
If you need water during this period, please fill suitable containers before the water is turned off.
Guidance while the water is off
- Try not to use hot taps while the water is off. Hot water cylinders may be damaged if the water level gets too low.
- Do not use washing machines, automatic dishwashers or other appliances that use water during the shut-off period as they may be damaged if used without water.
- In the event of poor weather conditions, work will be deferred to a later date.
- When the water supply is turned back on, the water may have a milky-white appearance. This is caused by small air bubbles in the water supply and will not affect taste or quality. We will try to eliminate most of the air from the system when the supply is restored. However, if air is still visible in your water, running a tap for a few minutes should clear it from your pipes.
