The sprinkler and irrigation ban that has been in place in Martinbrough has been lifted, and people are now able to water their gardens on odd and even days again. The water conservation measures have been successful in Martinborough, and river levels are high enough to lift the sprinkler ban. Please be mindful of how and when you use water in line with the alternate day watering restrictions to avoid the need for future watering restrictions. Residents can save water by:
• Following water saving tips like using buckets to wash the car, or a broom to sweep the path, rather than the hose
• Using hand held watering methods for your garden
• Reporting leaks – if you notice any leaks, please call your local council, so we can prioritise these for repair as soon as possible.
Alternate-day watering restrictions are in place year-round in South Wairarapa – even numbered properties on even numbered dates and odd numbered properties on odd numbered dates.
Please note the complete outdoor water ban in Greytown and Featherston remains in place as the need to conserve water continues. We continue to monitor water levels and will update residents if rain in the forecast and work on a new bore progresses in the next few weeks.
