Progress update on Boar Bush Gully Road

Excellent progress has been made on the damaged road caused by a slip on Boar Bush Gully Road.

The slip was caused by a series of heavy rain events last winter and had continued to slip, risking
undermining the road and water supply pipes to Featherston. Water outages in this slip location has
previously caused water outages in the township in 2017 and 2020.

South Wairarapa Group Manager, Partnerships & Operations, Stefan Corbett said an emergency
inspection was carried out by WSP engineers shortly after the event.

“Following this inspection, we worked with Greater Wellington Regional Council and the contractors
to reinstate the road. Boar Bush Creek needed to be realigned as it was flowing very close to Boar
Bush Gully Road,” Stefan said.

The realignment of the creek was carried out by the contractors by creating a ramp from the road to
the river to get the digger into the river to successfully realign it.

“The construction of the road is progressing well, and we believe this work will prevent further flood
damage.” Stefan Corbett said.
