South Wairarapa District Council office in Martinborough and our three libraries in Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough will all be closed on Friday 10 July to mark Matariki 2026.

The libraries will reopen on Saturday 11 July from 9.30am to 12pm.

Featherston Library will also be closed on Tuesday 14 July due to all-day maintenance in the area by PowerCo.

Matariki is now in its fifth official year as a public holiday in Aotearoa New Zealand and communities around the motu are celebrating with day-long and month-long events to mark the annual rising of the Matariki star cluster. 

The date of Matariki changes each year but always lands in June or July
