Our completion work on the Featherston Watermain Renewal project continues. With the arrival of specific fittings for the bridge, the team will complete the last two lateral connections and reinstate the bridge on Fitzherbert Street (east).
Final reinstatement works will continue where pipes have been laid. Work around the KiwiRail crossing, remains to be scheduled.
Fitzherbert Street East – Tuesday 14 July 2026
Water shutdown from 1pm – 4pm
To do this work, the water supply to properties shown in the affected area below needs to be temporarily turned off. This will happen on Tuesday from 1pm until 4pm.
Water shutdown letters are being delivered to affected residents in the area shown below on Thursday afternoon. Traffic management is in place. Please ensure that vehicles are kept clear of the work site.
Given the longer timeframe for the water shutdown, it is suggested that you may want to fill up suitable containers before the water is turned off.
- Try not to use hot taps while the water is off. Hot water cylinders may be damaged if the water level gets too low.
- Do not use washing machines, automatic dishwashers or other appliances that use water during the shut-off period as they may be damaged if used without water.
- In the event of very bad weather, work will be deferred to a later date.
- When the water supply is turned back on, the water may have a milky-white appearance.
