From Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough to Pirinoa, our volunteers do the hard yards in June each year to read water meters in all weather in the main towns across the district.
This year, we’re asking for your help with clearing overgrowth around your water meter, so our volunteers can find water meters with ease. We really appreciate you taking a look at your meter and clearing any overgrowth around it to make the readings a smooth task and help us to manage water use, identify leaks and care for our shared resources.

If volunteers cannot find water meters, it may mean a $40 clearing fee to send someone out to find the meter and take a reading.
Our volunteers are an integral part of the council’s work to stay on top of water meter readings, along with water use, potential leaks and our quest to save precious water for all.
