The Featherston Watermain Renewal project is in its final few weeks to completion at the end of this month.
Thank you to the Featherston community for your ongoing patience with the disruption caused in our watermain pipe laying work.
The last period of scheduled night works generated some noise disturbance concerns. In response, we have re-considered the works programme to identify all opportunities to minimise disruption to the Featherston community. This includes ensuring that loud noise generating machines stop operating by 8pm to ensure comfortable compliance with noise control standards.
Night works are necessary to complete our work particularly on Fitzherbert Street SH2, to meet traffic management planning requirements.
Working between 7pm and 5am will ensure less impact to the commercial area, road users, and pedestrians, and also less impact to public transport. Traffic staff will be onsite to manage the traffic flows and the pedestrians to ensure that they all pass the worksite safely.
This approach maintains continuous traffic flow, avoids long traffic queues and delay, and minimises the overall impact on the traffic network.
The dates and locations of scheduled night works for the next five working days are shown below.
