The Wairarapa Library Service is changing its opening hours for Saturdays from March 5.
Branches in Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown and Carterton will open at 9.30am, half an hour earlier than previously, and close at 1pm instead of 2pm.
The service said this was because there were few borrowers who came in after lunch, and the earlier start would suit those who out and about on their Saturday morning errands.
“We find people are already waiting at the door sometimes when we are opening at 10am,” a spokeswoman Chris Hyman said.
The library service has also broadened its “click and collect” service. Borrowers who are unable to enter a library, or just want a librarian to choose their books for them, can now to pick them up on three full days a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).
