Thank you to Featherston and Greytown residents for being mindful of water consumption over the past few hours this afternoon. As anticipated, the majority of the repair work has been completed with final work scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Please continue to be mindful of water consumption until then.
We will post an update in the morning to confirm full works completion.
Afternoon notice of water conservation request for Greytown and Featherston
A water supply pipe feeding the Waiohine Water Treatment Plant has been damaged and emergency repairs are under way, which means that the plant has been taken offline for immediate pipe repairs.
South Wairarapa District Council asks Greytown and Featherston residents to conserve water.
The water supply remains safe to drink but water conservation is needed now so the remaining water reservoir level does not get too low.
Please only use water for essential purposes such as drinking, cooking, hygiene and toilet flushing until at least 6pm tonight.
Conserving water now will help maintain supply for everyone if repairs take longer than expected.
Businesses are asked to minimise non-essential water use where practical.
Thank you for your support while our crews work to restore operations as soon as possible.
