Possible noise disruption with Lyon Street night works – Sun 24 May, 9pm-4am

Thank you for your ongoing patience as we work towards improved water resilience for the Featherston community’s water supply. The Featherston Watermain Renewals project is in the final stages and we are almost there.

To do this work, the water supply to properties shown in the affected area below needs to be temporarily turned off. This will happen on Sunday evening at 9pm and will be restored by 4am Monday morning.

Please note that there will be some noise associated with this work with saws running approximately between 10pm-11pm to cut existing pipework. Steps have been taken to minimise noise disruption as much as possible, however there will still be some noise.

Project advice letters were scheduled to be delivered to affected residents in the areas shown above on Friday morning. Traffic management is in place. Please ensure that vehicles are kept clear of the work site.

If you need water during this period, you should fill up suitable containers before the water is turned off.

•       Try not to use hot taps while the water is off. Hot water cylinders may be damaged if the water level gets too low.

•       Do not use washing machines, automatic dishwashers or other appliances that use water during the shut-off period as they may be damaged if used without water.

•       In the event of very bad weather, work will be deferred to a later date.

•       When the water supply is turned back on, the water may have a milky-white appearance. This is caused by small air bubbles in the water supply and will not affect taste or quality. We will try to eliminate most of the air from the system when the supply is restored.  However, if air is still visible in your water, running a tap for a few minutes should clear it from your pipes.
