Countdown to Digital TV

On 29 September the old TV signal will be switched off and after that date your TV needs to be able to receive a digital signal.  If you already have Sky or Freeview or Igloo then you are digital.  If not, you will need to connect some extra equipment such as (depending on where you live) a UHF aerial and set top box, or a satellite dish and a satellite set top box.  If you are not sure what to do, you can call 0800 838 800, or check out the Going Digital website on www.goingdigital.co.nz.

There are still some people who are eligible for the Targeted Assistance Package who have not yet rung to confirm their eligibility and get their free upgrade.  If you know anyone who might be eligible, please urge them to call our help line 0800 838 800.

Community Advisor Robin Winter who has been talking about going digital in your region and answering people’s questions for the past 3 years says “ A big thank you to all of you who have helped people in your region by getting the Going Digital message out to everyone  – I could not have reached everyone without your help.”

Robin has some final questions for you:

  • Are all your TVs ready to receive the digital signal after 29 September?
  • Have you made your recorder (video or DVD) digital so that you can continue to record your favourite progammes after 29 September?
  • Have your friends and family all gone digital?
  • Are your neighbours and workmates all digital?
  • Do you know anyone who is not digital yet?  If so, please pass this information on to them.

Pass this message on:  call 0800 838 800 or go to the Going Digital website www.goingdigital.co.nz before 29 September.
