The Kokomai Creative Festival, Wairarapa will take place at a wide range of venues across the region from October 18 – 27, 2013. The goal is to present a quality creative Festival which involves the local community, and showcases the talented people within the Wairarapa. Kokomai means to ascend, to take flight. This year’s inaugural Festival has the theme Flight of the Imagination.
The South Wairarapa District Council is sponsoring the Kokomai Creative Fesitval and encourages everyone to come along. There are many events in South Wairarapa at some of our outstanding and slightly quirky venues like Party with the Aunties at the Pirinoa Community Hall on Sunday the 20th; Jan Preston the award winning pianist at the ANZAC Hall in Featherston or at Tirohana Estate Vineyard in Martinborough. We are proud to be working with Jazz in Martinborough to bring you two fabulous musical events in the Geoff Culverwell Band and La Petite Manouche. Greytown hosts the Kura Gallery from Wellington and also the fabulous and inspiring play Nick: An Accidental Hero.
Kokomai launches on the 18th October with the opening of local Martinborough photographer Marcus Adams’ exhibition in the Martinborough Town Square. Please come along to hear Marcus speak at 12pm.
