During Conservation Week –Te Wiki Tiaki Ao TÅ«roa –15-23 August, Carterton District Council and South Wairarapa District Council will focus on Climate Change.

Library displays

Council libraries will have displays explaining what is Climate Change, how it could impact the Wairarapa and how we can all reduce our emissions. Go check them out during the week.

Movie screening

There will also be a movie screening of the film ‘2040’ at the Carterton Events Centre at 3pm, Sunday 23 August. The movie will be followed by short talks and a Q&A session with local guests. This event is by gold coin koha entry and attendees will need to PRE-REGISTER online at eventfinda.co.nz or at the Carterton Events Centre desk.

Poster competition

Design a poster (size A3) about climate change and be in to win prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

For inspiration, think about:

• How you feel about climate change
• Whether you can see the impact of climate change in your life
• What is an easy way people can mitigate the effects of climate change in their everyday lives
• What are you doing in your personal lives/at their schools to inspire others?

There will be different categories for different age groups, with the following prizes up for grabs:

• 4 Family passes at the Pukaha National Wildlife Centre
• 1 night in a cabin for 2 people at the Waimeha Camping Village
• Goodies from the Garden Barn
• $25 Voucher at the Lolly Jar in Greytown
• Andmore!

Entries shouldbe received by 5pm Tues 11 August 2020so theycan be displayed during Conservation Week. Winners will be selected andthe judge’s decision is final. The winning posters may be reproduced, displayed and/or used, with your name, in future council publications.

Entries should be sent to/dropped off atCouncil offices inMartinborough or Carterton, Featherston or Greytown libraries, or emailed as aPDF file to our shared Climate Change Advisor atmelanie@cdc.govt.nz. Please include your name, contact details and age (or simply ‘adult’).
