Coastal Reserves Consultation

The submission period closed on 3 April 2013.
Check our website for information on the upcoming hearing date (possibly late April/early May).

BACKGROUND

The South Wairarapa District Council welcomes your submission on draft plans for the district’s Coastal Reserves. The Draft Reserve Management Plan is a high level document that guides Council’s overall management of the coastal areas. The Draft Reserve Development Plan sits under the Management Plan and proposes some thoughtful changes to Council’s four main coastal camping areas.

The Draft Plans are available to view here:

There are paper copies available at the district Libraries, as well as at the Council offices at 19 Kitchener Street, Martinborough.

SUBMISSIONS

These plans help us manage and maintain our community areas so your submission is important. Please take some time to read the draft plans and send us your thoughts. You don’t have to be a South Wairarapa resident to make a submission – we welcome feedback from any and all of our coastal reserve users.

You can use the submission form we’ve provided, or you can write us a letter or send us an email. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 3 April 2013 and there are several options for making a submission:

  • Download a submission form and post it to us
  • Email your submission to feedback@swdc.govt.nz
  • Write a letter to:
    Coastal Reserves Consultation
    South Wairarapa District Council
    PO Box 6
    Martinborough 5741
    Attn: Jen Olson

Please be sure to indicate your name and address, whether you support/oppose/are neutral toward the draft plans, and whether you would like to be heard at a hearing.

WHAT’S NEXT?

If any submitters indicate that they wish to be heard, a hearing will take place as soon as possible after 3 April. After the hearing a Council officer will write a report for the full Council to consider. The Council will consider the submissions, the hearing and the officer’s report and will make a decision on the plans.

QUESTIONS

If you have questions about the plans or the consultation process, please ring Jen Olson at Council on 06 306 9611 x 842 or email feedback@swdc.govt.nz.
