Important information for contractors and utilities working in road corridor – ‘Brown out period’

A ‘brown out period’ is implemented in areas with high foot traffic and shopping areas around December and January time. During this period work by contractors and utility authorities is restricted as below.

Over Weight Permits

Council will not be accepting any Over Weight Permit Applications after the 24th of December 2019 until the 6th January 2020. Please ensure that any programmed activity is presented prior to this date.

Corridor Work Access Applications

Council will not be accepting any Corridor Access Applications after the 20th of December 2019 until the 6th January 2020. Please ensure that any programmed activity within the Corridor is presented prior to this date

CBD Brown Out Period

South Wairarapa will be operating a Brown-out in our CBD areas from the 9th December 2019 to 6th January 2020.  

Martinborough

Kitchener Street (SH53) – Broadway Street to Memorial Square
Jellicoe Street – Venice Street to Memorial Square
Texas Street West and East
Memorial Square
Oxford Street – Cork Street to Memorial Square
Cambridge Road – Strasbourge Street to Memorial Square

Featherston

Fitzherbert Street (SH2) – Wakefield Street to Fox Street
Revans Street (SH53) – Daniell Street to Fitzherbert Street (SH53)
Daniell Street – Fox Street to Revans Street (SH53)
Fox Street – Daniell Street to Fitzherbert Street (SH2)
Birdwood Street – Fox Street to Fitzherbert Street (SH2)

Greytown

Main Street (SH2) – Wood Street to Jellicoe Street
Hastwell Street
McMaster Street – East Street to Main Street (SH2)

Capital Journeys have confirmed their dates being noon 20th December 2019 to 9am 6th January 2020.
If there is essential work activity within these areas required during this period prior discussion will need to be held with the Corridor Manager.

Chorus Provisioning

CBD Close out period from 9th Dec to 6th January. However, with 24 hours’ notice to Ben Turner or Tim Langley of what is proposed it may be possible to continue with a customer connection job in CBD if not in State Highway.
