Due to fast rising river levels, the Waihenga bridge to Martinborough is now closed until further notice.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Ponatahi and Kahutara, but please watch for flooding hazards in parts of Ponatahi. On Lake Ferry Road, flooding now extends between Dry River and Chishams Road, and also around Pukio, so caution is advised.

The Remutaka Hill Road (SH2) is also closed due to a slip, with delays of up to 60 minutes.

All libraries will close at 4pm – the Martinborough Library closed at 1pm.

Council will continue to provide updates as information comes to hand.
