Calling all rangatahi and the community to apply for $120,000 of funds

Do you need help to turn your dreams into reality?

If so, South Wairarapa District Council wants to hear from you to find out if you qualify for a portion of this year’s $120,000 Community & Youth Fund, which opens for applications on Friday 9 August.

“We really hope more of our young people (rangatahi) will apply for a portion of this large pool of funds this year because we want to help them to create positive outcomes in their own and other people’s lives, both now and in the future,” says Councillor Colin Olds.

All members of the community are invited to apply and applications will be accepted from further afield, as long as they demonstrate a beneficial outcome for South Wairarapa. The fund is distributed every year and this year has a goal of helping young people in particular to achieve their dreams and get projects off the ground in South Wairarapa.

Applicants can ask for as little or as much as their project needs and funds will be distributed following the evaluation of applications in October 2024.

These funds are typically granted to a wide range of people, projects and organisations as last year’s successful applications show. They included groups as diverse as Booktown, Greytown Scout Group and Access Radio to the RNZSPCA, Wairarapa Search & Rescue and Martinborough WaiWaste & Foodbox Charitable Company, among many others.

This year’s Community & Youth Fund opens on Friday 9 August and closes on Sunday 15 September.

Find out if you or someone you know qualifies for funds to get an exciting project off the ground.
