Wairarapa Dark Sky Association is delighted that South Wairarapa and Carterton District Councils have formally set the wheels in motion to help secure dark sky reserve status for the Wairarapa region.

South Wairarapa District Council and Carterton District Council members unanimously approved to proceed to public notification of the proposed ‘International Dark Sky Reserve – Outdoor Artificial Lighting’ Plan Change. This Plan Change proposes changes to the lighting rules for the district.
